Some characters are simply better together.
Robert Oxley’s The Red Plumber and The Green Plumber form an irresistible double act, bringing the nostalgia of classic gaming into the colourful, expressive world of contemporary art.
Side by side, the contrasting red and green portraits create a wonderfully balanced composition. Both share the same exaggerated features, startling blue eyes and distinctive dripping-paint treatment, yet each has a personality entirely its own.
The paintings are packed with visual detail. Flowing paint, graphic outlines and saturated colours combine to create a pair that feels simultaneously nostalgic and thoroughly modern.
This Gallery Edition set includes two individual 24 × 20″ boxed canvases.
Displayed together, they create a striking feature across a generous wall space. They’re an inspired choice for collectors of contemporary pop art, lovers of gaming culture or anyone who appreciates art with a generous helping of humour.
